Story Decorating Group is set to recruit 20 new employees after landing several lucrative contracts.

The business, which has its main office in Kingstown Carlisle, secured several major new contracts worth more than £1m throughout the North West and Scotland, including Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

The new jobs currently being advertised include site supervisory staff, time-served decorators and apprentices.

The firm currently employs 44 people, meaning the firm’s workforce will increase by nearly 50 per cent.

Story Decorating managing director, Robert Story, said: “There’s no doubt that clients are more demanding than ever and the contract decorating market remains very competitive, however, we are gaining an excellent reputation for delivering projects on time and to a very high standard.”

Story Decorating Group has been shortlisted for five projects at the 2016 PDA Awards (Professional Decorating Association industry Oscars), the most prestigious being Wiltons Music Hall in London.

In addition this includes several Cumbrian projects, including work undertaken for Crown Packaging, Audi Carlisle and Whitehaven Market Hall.

Mr Story added: “Being a locally based company that can compete at the highest level gives me great pride and these award nominations are a reflection of the craftsmanship and commitment of our workforce, and they deserve special recognition for the company’s success.
