CN Group has appointed Deanne Shallcross as its first West Cumbria editor following a restructure of its editorial team.

Deanne - who has been with the Times & Star for eight years - will take over at the Times & Star and the Whitehaven News, assuming responsibility for the two weekly newspaper titles, their associated websites, supplements, and spin-off publications.

Solicitor Kate Mallaband has joined Napthens solicitors in Cumbria as partner and head of Commercial Property in the county.

Kate, who will work from both the firm’s recently opened Kendal office and the existing office in Penrith, joins from local firm Oglethorpe Sturton & Gillibrand, and brings more than 10 years’ experience working in the sector. 

Kate has particular knowledge in landlord and tenant law, and estate management work for national retail portfolios as well as large regional operators across Yorkshire and the North West having spent seven years at Top 100 firm Gordons in Leeds.

Barrow AFC have appointed Emma Athersmith as their new commercial development manager, filling the role vacated by Steve Casson last month.

The new appointee's role will see her working to develop the commercial side of Barrow AFC, as well as other aspects of the club.

Northern Security has appointed Stuart Davison to the newly-created position of head of operations to help facilitate its plans for growth.

Mr Davison, 39, has joined from Virgin Trains where he spent 18 years, latterly as a customer experience manager.

Northern Security managing director Paul Hopper has plans to double the size of the business over the next three years.

Mr Hopper said: “Stuart’s appointment is an important move for Northern Security. We’ve targeted significant growth and it’s vital we have the correct people and resource in place to deliver that growth.
