Three new directors have been appointed at a Cumbrian solicitors. 

Associate solicitors Abigail Borrowdale, Lucy Fuggle and Peter Marrs will take on their new roles from April 1 At Milburns. 

Mrs Fuggle and Mr Marrs are based at the firm's Workington office and Mrs Borrowdale works from Whitehaven. 

Richard Atkinson, senior director, said: "Milburns has been helping the people of West Cumbria for over 100 years.

"We are pleased to establish the next generation of solicitors and continue to support the community into the future. 

"I am particularly pleased to bring into the management of the firm such talented people all with a local connection. I am very much looking forward to their future involvement at the firm.” 

Mrs Fuggle is a private client solicitor dealing with all aspects of the law relating to wills, probate and Court of Protection work. 

She said: "I am looking forward to the new challenge in my career it is a great opportunity to be part of the decisions driving the business forward." 

Mr Marrs is the commercial property solicitor dealing with commercial conveyancing transactions. 

He is head of the firm's property department in Workington. 

He said: "Since leaving Cockermouth School, I completed my law degree in Newcastle I went on to complete my training as a solicitor in Carlisle. 

"Having been brought up on the family farm I think it is important to retain your local identity.

I now have young children of my own and becoming a director in a company with offices throughout West Cumbria is a privilege."
