Public Exhibition At The Knapton Energy Park (The Former Knapton Generating Station) Malton Road, East Knapton, YO17 8JF For A Proposed Energy Generating & Storage Development

Gravitricity, an Edinburgh-based renewable energy storage firm, will be holding a public exhibition on Wednesday 13th July 2022 within the site offices at the Knapton Energy Park (the former Knapton Generating Station) from noon until 8:00pm. Gravitricity has identified land within the park as suitable for gravity assisted energy infrastructure comprising a vertical shaft of up to 10m in diameter and down to 250m below ground level. Weights would be raised and lowered within the shaft to either store or release energy on demand. It is renewable and low carbon energy on a very small physical footprint.

Development of this kind would require planning permission from Ryedale District Council but before any application is made, Gravitricity want to share information about the infrastructure, how it would be constructed and how it would operate. Accordingly, Gravitricity invite you to meet with company representatives who can explain the proposal in greater detail and address any queries you may have. Feedback would be used to improve the design and reduce any adverse effects. Details of the proposal are now available online at www.gravitricity.com/projects and we hope to see you at the exhibition.
