An area of land next to a Cumbrian school has been transformed into a quiet garden where children can relax and enjoy nature.
The work to clear the area at St George’s Primary and Nursery in Barrow was carried out by apprentices from BAE Systems.
The team led by welding training assessor Mike Willetts installed benches and planters after clearing the ground in School Street, Barrow.
St George’s pastoral care worker Jonny Riley said: "We can’t thank the team enough for the help they gave us.
"The children are loving it and it’s always full. They sit and chat, read, look at the flowers and have a great time.
"It’s made a huge difference to the school and wouldn’t have been possible without help from the apprentices."
The apprentices were Chris Moralee, Kamen Marshall, Sam Fazackerley, Sophie Ridgway, Danny Murphy and Jenny Bond.
A spokesman from BAE Systems said they offered to provide the support after an application to its Community Investment panel.
He added: “The company is committed to supporting projects that have a positive impact on the local community, particularly if they are linked to education and skills, as with the St George's garden."
