A COLLEGE is organising a virtual apprenticeship event for post-16 students to gain advice and guidance on getting placements later in the year.
Given the current social distancing measures in place across the UK, Carlisle College remains closed for all face-to-face tuition and events.
However, to give prospective students the opportunity to gain advice and guidance about apprenticeship opportunities this September, Carlisle College is holding its second virtual Apprenticeship Live event this Thursday between 7pm and 7.45pm.
The event is due to be hosted via Zoom, the video conferencing system which allows users to join and collaborate in meetings across the globe using different devices.
Students and parents alike are invited to join the team on Zoom via the link https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85966051115.
Martin Norris, the college’s business development manager, said: “Carlisle College is committed to providing the best possible information, advice and guidance to post-16 learners in Cumbria.
“While the Covid-19 pandemic has meant that we have had to postpone several of our open evenings this year, we are delighted to be able to offer virtual alternatives, with apprenticeship live being the second of many planned digital events hosted by Carlisle College.
“Apprenticeship Live will provide future students with the opportunity to lean more about apprenticeships, as well as a chance to speak to current apprentices and curriculum staff about what it is like to be on an apprenticeship programme.”
Carlisle College currently works with more than 700 apprentices across 350 local leading businesses and has an extensive apprenticeship provision of more than 30 programmes including adult care, business administration, construction, customer service, digital marketing, engineering, IT and motor vehicles.
The programmes run from level two through to degree-level apprenticeships.
This is the second virtual Apprenticeship Live event the college will have hosted.
After the success of the first, the team decided to organise the second one which takes place on Thursday.
In particular, students will find out useful information like how to submit applications.
