AMBITIOUS development plans for Carlisle Railway Station are on the right track.
Cumbria County Council’s Cabinet further confirmed its commitment to the station development yesterday, putting its support behind the business case and the overall scheme objectives.
The redevelopment will improve the railway station and facilities as well as the surrounding area.
Plans also complement the proposed new HS2 high speed railway linking London, the Midlands and the north with improved access to new and extended platforms.
Plans have received £15m of Government funding through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal.
An additional £5m has also been allocated from the Borderlands Partnership Board to help fund the project.
