With no-one wanting another summer without Cumbria’s country fairs and agricultural shows, some organisers are pressing ahead with plans to hold them this year.
Ambleside Sports has confirmed it is resuming its show on Rydal Show Field on Thursday, July 29 from 10am until 6pm.
Cartmel Show is also set to return to Cartmel Park on Wednesday, August 4 from 8.30am.
Cartmel is famous for horse racing, so it’s not surprising that horses are a predominant feature of the show with showjumping, carriage driving and show classes.
Coniston Country Fair is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 18 from 11.30am unless there is any extension to restrictions.
Held in the shadow of Coniston Old Man on the shores of Coniston Water, the traditional Lakeland show boasts a spectacular location for livestock competitions, sporting events, bouncy castles, trade stands and falconry displays.
Grasmere Sports is returning on Sunday, August 29 from 10am at The Showfield.
Now celebrating 170 years in existence, Grasmere Lakeland Sports has been a regular annual event since 1868, unbroken except for the two periods of the First and Second World Wars and COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
And Black Combe Country Fair held in Bootle will return on Monday August 30 from 12pm, it has been confirmed.
The picturesque Eskdale valley is the setting each August bank holiday Monday for the fair which started around 50 years ago as sheepdog trials.
Westmorland County Show has confirmed it will be held over two days this year to ensure is as safe as possible for all participants and visitors.
Livestock classes will be split across both days and the layout is being overhauled to make best use of the extensive showground.
The show is taking place Wednesday, September 8 and Thursday, September 9 from 8am until 5.30pm.
Finally, Lakeland Country Fair has confirmed it is returning to Torver on Sunday, August 15.
