PLANS have been approved to build an 'absolutely crucial' new MOT bay at a car dealership in Kendal.
A proposal for a new MOT bay to replace the present 'outdated' facilities at the SEAT motor dealership in the Kendal Motor Village has been given the thumbs up by South Lakeland District Council.
Cox Motor group has owned the Kendal Motor Village site since 2005 and has two successful franchises in Honda and SEAT.
According to the design and access statement, the car dealership has seen a growth in demand, and its MOT facilities need updated to secure the future of the business.
It states: "The SEAT brand is in high sales growth and this in turn is creating more demand for both sales and aftersales.
"In addition the MOT facilities on site are very old and need to be updated to new regulations in vehicle testing.
"Therefore a new MOT and aftersales facility is absolutely crucial to the future of the business."
The plans propose replacing the present outdated MOT facilities, and providing modern workshops and valeting bays to support the existing SEAT motor dealership. The application does not state when work will start on the plans.
