AN Ambleside restaurant that was named ‘the best in the world’ has outlined how it shapes its high-quality service for its customers.
The Lake District’s Old Stamp House restaurant was recently named as the best fine dining restaurant in the world, according to TripAdvisor.
The business was the winner of its 2021 Travellers’ Choice “Best of the Best” Restaurants awards.
The Cumbrian restaurant took the title of World, Europe, and UK number one fine dining restaurant.
The restaurant which holds a Michelin star celebrated the food and cultural heritage of Cumbria with dishes such as black pudding “bon bon” and crab from the west coast of Cumbria.
Manager Ryan Blackburn, who opened the restaurant 2014 with his brother Craig and wife Jemma, was delighted with the award and spoke proudly of his business.
He said: “The whole thing was a bit of a funny one.
“It’s a fancy title but it just means a lot to get that important feedback from our customers, which the award was based on.
“TripAdvisor is an important tool for any business to mould your business on because you need know what your customers are asking from you.
“The title felt different from even the Michelin star in the end as well.
“We really appreciated all of it and we were so proud of the award.
“The feedback we got over the last twelve months really meant a lot to us.
“It is the very thing that helps us maintain the standards we are known for.
“We are now fully booked out until November. We’re currently expanding on the restaurant and we’re excited about that.
“We couldn’t be fuller at the moment which we’re so happy about.
“My brother Craig runs the front, while my wife Jemma takes care of the behind-the-scenes administration.
“I’m so grateful for them and to all our staff who do so much so often.”
Ryan, who was from Langdale, is married to Jemma who is from Barrow. The two have spent a lot of time in the Lake District as the area has been an inspiration for them and their business.
Ryan added: “A lot of our dishes are inspired by the area around us. We want to give people a real experience of Cumbria when they visit us.
“That’s our whole ethos you could say and we want to give people what they want. We’d like them to remember us. We would like to thank our customers and staff.”
