AN italian resturant in Windermere has announced it will be closed for a short period of time.  

San Pietro Restaurant Windermere will be shut until Wednesday 

The restaurant wrote on social media: "To our wonderful customers.

"Our Restaurant will be closed from Monday, August 9 and re-opening again on Wednesday, August 18 for our mini holiday break.

"We're taking a week off to spend time with my family and friends Unfortunately, it means we will not be able to answer any telephones or any reply emails during our time off work

"Thank you and we are look forward to welcoming you all back soon."

Owner Jason Turner said: "We’re simply closed due to our team being exhausted and in need of a well earned rest as we are fully booked when we return on the 18th until the end of September.

"We have been at the end of some abuse and even racial abuse which had the police attention and all this we find we don’t wish our team to even witness as it gets them down as well to see my wife being racially abused.

"So for us all and our mental health we made the decision a few weeks ago for the entire team to take a vacation - this is.

"It is nothing to do with Covid- it’s how we look after our long standing team here at San pietro."
