Kendal’s newest butchers, Roast Mutton, located in Woolpack Yard, is set to host a free butchery masterclass, designed to give chefs an insight into what the business is about.
The first masterclass for up to eight local chefs, will take place on Monday, September 27, starting at 7pm with an informal look behind the scenes at the new butchery.
After which, owner Robert Unwin, will give a practical butchery demonstration as he breaks down a whole beef carcass into its constituent parts and prepares specific cuts ready for sale in the shop, providing running descriptions of cut location and portioning.
Guests will then have an opportunity to chat to Mr Unwin and enjoy a glass of wine and sample some of the freshly prepared produce cooked on the BBQ.
“I'm looking forward to having some local chefs come and take a look at what we do at Roast Mutton,” said Mr Unwin.
“As an ethical butcher Roast Mutton is all about sustainable farming and encouraging our customers to eat with thoughtfulness and care.
“By sourcing our meat from farms across the Lake District and personally knowing the farmers who rear the animals we buy allows us to supply the very best locally reared heritage and rare breed grass fed beef, lamb and mutton, as well as pork, poultry and carefully selected locally sourced game.’’
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. To reserve a place email hello@roastmutton.co.uk
