A COMPANY has been presented with a Bronze Award in the Retail Week Awards 2021 for the Frontline Hero Initiative.
Wax Lyrical, which is part of a UK-wide brand, has been recognised for providing sanitiser products for the NHS.
It also marked its 40th anniversary last year and recently completed its new factory in Lindal-in-Furness.
Wax Lyrical has previously received several Gift of the Year Awards and innovation, tourism and business awards. In 2020, chief executive Jacqui Gale was presented with the Cumbria Business Person of the Year and her MBE the following year.
The company also achieved an Investors in People Platinum Award.
Jacqui said: “2021 is the start of another award-winning decade for Wax Lyrical. Last year we had great plans for celebration.
“We had continued growth across the globe and we created more stunning fragranced candles and diffusers, launching many new home fragrance collections.
“We started 2020 on a high and despite the enormous economic challenges which transpired, thanks to having a terrific team and a fantastic network of retailers and an online store, Wax Lyrical stayed strong.
“We are proud of products made here in Cumbria and very fortunate to be part of a bigger team, the Portmeirion Group, which envelopes several home wares brands. The Group commitment and investment in the Cumbria plant helps us remain stable, agile and continue to grow.”
Jacqui praised the outstanding team of workers in the company and credited them for the honours Wax Lyrical had acquired.
“Our creativity, quality, manufacturing, and culture are continually praised by other organisations," she said. "Just this week, we received Bronze in the UK Retail Week Awards – the Frontline Hero Initiative category, recognising our sanitiser production for the NHS.
"Thanks to our Portmeirion Group investment in a new plant and our talented team in Cumbria, this year we are manufacturing fragranced no-rinse hand cleanser.
"That’s the same great protection as our sanitiser but in a wide range of natural fragrances and looking beautiful along-side hydrating hand wash and moisturising hand lotion. That’s a whole new factory, production line and more products to follow. Team work again has enabled us chart a course for expansion into a new sector, beauty.”
