Carlisle-based accountancy firm Armstrong Watson is continuing to grow across the North with the opening of the firm’s first office in Greater Manchester.
The company’s new Manchester presence follows the firm’s recent acquisition of ASE Professional Services, the well-regarded UK audit, accounting and tax compliance arm of ASE Automotive Solutions and specialists in the motor dealership sector.
The Greater Manchester office will be home to a fast-growing team of 17 which includes recent new hires, along with the existing strong expertise from ASE Professional Services.
The new office is headed up by Audit and Assurance Director Steve Preston who joins the firm from BDO, working closely alongside Michelle Malone, Head of Tax Automotive, who transfers to Armstrong Watson leading ASE Professional Services.
Armstrong Watson has an established history throughout the North of England and Scotland, from its origins in Cumbria 155 years ago, to the 18 offices the business now runs covering the North West, Yorkshire, the North East, Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway, and Glasgow.
This decision to launch in Greater Manchester and to take over ASE Professional services follows four other acquisitions for Armstrong Watson in the last 18 months, with the firm expanding in Leeds, Hexham, and Carlisle.
It also coincides with the building of the business’ new headquarters on the site of one of its former offices at Rosehill, Carlisle, due to open next year.
Armstrong Watson Managing Partner and Chief Executive Paul Dickson said: “We’re delighted to launch in Greater Manchester and to welcome ASE Professional Services staff and clients to Armstrong Watson. We look forward to further growing our presence across the North and expanding across our multifaceted services and specialisms.
“Our unique proposition allows us to be big enough to advise and support businesses of any size across the full remit of accounting services, but also enables us to provide a bespoke advisory relationship often only associated with smaller firms.
“We hope that by offering an increasing range of specialists and advisers, we will ensure that we continue to provide local businesses, alongside those in our specialist automotive and motor dealership sector, with tailored, proactive support and advice essential for profit and growth.”
