PLANS for a new glamping site in Kendal have been submitted to South Lakeland District Council.
Glampitect has put forward proposals to site three glamping pods on land south west of School House, Whinfell.
The application’s design and access statement said: “Proposed are a total of three self-fabricated timber glamping pods for guests along with recycling/waste, individual parking bays with a turning area and a toilet block.
“The client intends to propose one parking bay per pod, including an additional bay for maintenance vehicles.
“Each guest pod will have a small area of decking to the front for privacy. Also intended are associated footpaths and landscaping of the site.
“This proposal is a minor development, consisting of only three pods, it is anticipated that it will cause no harm to the character and beauty of the Lake District.
“As the pods are of timber construction, they aim to blend seamlessly into the landscape surrounding the glamping site and create little visual impact.
“Each pod is less than three metres in height so will not affect the surrounding skyscape.”
Documents said likely users of the pods will be couples, family or friends split into multiple pods and that party groups will not be permitted by the operator.
