CHIEF EXECUTIVE ROLE

James Cropper plc has appointed Steve Adams as its chief executive officer following the resignation of Phil Wild.

Steve Adams is an executive director of the paper products company and managing director of the James Cropper Paper Division. He joined the company in 2017 and starts his new role with immediate effect. Steve said: "Building on the strong foundations set in place by Phil Wild, I am excited at the prospect of capitalising on the unique and significant capabilities of our people and know-how to become a truly global market leader in our core technology areas.”

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

Stephen Henwood has announced he is due to stand down as the Chair of the Lake District National Park Partnership (LDNPP) next year.

Stephen was Chair of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority 2008-2017, responsible for decommissioning the UK’s first generation civil nuclear facilities and Chair of the Board of the University of Cumbria 2010-2014, helping to guide them through challenging times. He took up the role with the LDNPP in 2018.

Stephen says: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair of the Lake District National Park Partnership and am very proud of what the Partnership has achieved.

“The contribution of the Partnership, working with others through challenging circumstances to manage the consequences of the Covid pandemic for our communities and businesses, has been particularly important over the last couple of years. We have achieved a great deal, but there is plenty more to do. There is now an exciting opportunity for someone else to take over the helm to deliver our ambitious plan for the Lake District.’’

GOING DIGITAL

Harriet Easterbrook has been appointed as a as Digital Account Manager at H&H Reeds.

Harriet, from the Allerdale area, is a graduate of Illustration BA (Hons) from the University of Cumbria and has a Marketing MSc from the University of Liverpool.

HR MARKETING

Realise HR has appointed a new marketing executive, Hannah Lewis. Hannah has been in marketing for more than five years and started her career at PFK Estate Agents in Cumbria.

AGENCY JOBS

Piers Morton has joined BPK Estate Agents as its new manager and valuer while Gillian Proudfoot has also joined the Kingstown-based business as senior sales negotiator.

The pair join from Fine & Country, where Piers was Operations Director and Senior Valuer and Gillian had the same role as her new position at BPK. They will form a four-strong team alongside Eddy Cane and Julie Fell.

Piers, who lives in Cumwhinton, began his career in Cumbria in 2005 and has been a senior valuer with three other local firms for nearly two decades. Gillian, who also lives locally, has over 20 years of property experience, initially running her own business in Cumbria and the South of Scotland and then working alongside Piers as a senior sales negotiator for more than 12 years.

RURAL WINNER

Farmer John Hall of Inglewood Edge Farm, has been announced as the winner of the David Thomlinson Award which was presented at Borderway Agri Expo last month.

Having farmed at Inglewood Edge since 1949, John runs 906 acres of grassland and has established himself as one of the most notable Beltex breeders.

This prestigious award was launched by Harrison & Hetherington in 2021 to recognise commitment, success, and accomplishment within the livestock farming industry.

LEADING THE WAY

Leadership facilitator Greg Duckworth has joined the Harrison Network.

Greg joins the team from his home base in the Eden valley and works both from there and the firm’s new offices in Whitehaven. He will be supporting management and leadership teams in organisations across the North West and Scotland as they develop their leadership, collaboration and entrepreneurial skills

He has two dogs, a retriever-collie cross and an Akita. In his spare time he loves paddleboarding, windsurfing, sailing in the Lakes and also playing and fixing both acoustic and electric guitars.

LEGAL ROLE

Residential property solicitor Hazel Jones joins Harrison Drury’s Kendal office.

Hazel qualified as a solicitor in 2018 and has gone on to specialise in the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold residential properties, as well as re-mortgaging work, registered and unregistered land ownership and equity release.

She is originally from Carnforth and grew up on a sheep and cattle farm
