A FISH and chip shop is reopening under new management.

Cem Oktem and his brother Cihan Oktem are taking on Priory Place Fish and Chip shop in Ulverston.

The brothers have been in the industry for 15 years, having taken over Packet Bridge Fish and Chips in Bolton Le Sands in February 2008 and opened their second site Westgate Fish and Chips in Morecambe in November 2019.

Cem has been a trainer at the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) training school since 2017 and helped the previous owners of Priory Place Fish and Chip setting up their business.

He said: "I know the shop quite well. I've done some shop training there and I did their quality assessment award there too.

"We hoping to open between mid-late April but obviously we need to put a team together and get the staff trained up so we need to get that in place first.

"We are planning to employee between 10 to 12 people both full-time and part-time."

The owner said the aim was to keep the business 'very traditional' and provide 'high-quality ingredients' and 'quality service'.

Apart from fish and chips the shop will sell various food items.

He said: "We have squid rings, halloumi, homemade things such as codfish cake and cheese and spring onion potato cakes. We make our own tartare sauce.

"We put our own touch on things and provide our menu which has been successful for the last 15 years."

The owner is 'looking forward' to getting the business open.

"Everyone seems to be buzzing that the shop is reopening", said Cem.

The plan is to open the shop seven days a week.

The business, on Priory Road, had its last day of service on Saturday, December 17.

Last year in April Priory Plaice was listed in Fry Magazine as one of the top 50 fish and chip takeaways in the UK.

The owners are starting their recruitment now.
