A MAN caught driving whilst over the legal alcohol limit has been sentenced.

Kirk Anthony Woodhouse, of Holborn Hill in Millom, was stopped by road traffic officers on Queens Park on February 11 this year while driving his Ford Focus.

Officers conducted a roadside breath test for analysis as they had reason to believe the 51-year-old defendant was driving while over the legal limit.

The lowest reading was 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on May 7, magistrates fined Woodhouse £150 and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.

They offered him the opportunity to partake in a drink-driving rehabilitation course, which if completed, would reduce his disqualification by 13 weeks.

He was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a £60 surcharge.
