Sellafield Ltd has called on children under 12 to join a drawing competition of 'Sam the Snail', to bolster its safe driving initiative.
Successful participants stand a chance to see their designs turned into permanent road signs at the Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria, and also win tickets to visit GoApe for themselves and their families.
The UK's largest nuclear site is a busy industrial area with countless individuals and vehicles moving at a speed of 20mph or as slow as 10mph in some sections.
The snail signs will work alongside current speed limit signs and detectors, emphasising the significance of getting home safe each day.
The competition welcomes entries in a range of designs from paint, pens or pencils to digital art.
Entries should be emailed to safetycomp@sellafieldsites.com.
Entrants are to include their first names and ages, a brief explanation of their idea, and their parent or guardian's contact information.
James Millington, Sellafield's director of environment, safety and security, said: "Safety is integral to everything we do at Sellafield.
"Driving is a part of everyday life but can change lives when it goes wrong.
"Road safety signs created by young people in our community will be a powerful reminder of what’s at stake."
The competition is open until August 9, with winners being notified by the end of August.
