Professional baristas from coffee shops across the region have been competing in the first-ever Farrer's Barista Championships.

The Lake District-based coffee roastery, John Farrer & Co., Kendal, launched the competition in April this year.

More than 20 individuals have participated in more than six heats held between April 9 and July 4.

These competitors have been pitted against each other, vying for a spot in the final showdown on October 2.

Each of the challengers underwent rigorous testing of their Barista skills and understanding during the heats.

The competitors were subjected to a two-hour challenge where they were required to set up workstations.

They were also tasked with creating a signature coffee-based non-alcoholic beverage of their choice.

Professional baristas from across the region, including Farrer’s barista trainer Michaela Hudson, judged them in the competition.

Six finalists have successfully made it through these rounds of challenges.
