Cumbria law firm Thomson Hayton Winkley (THW) has announced the appointment of Wendy Wharton as head of family law.
Ms Wharton, a military veteran, found her passion for law during her Army service.
During her service she worked within the military police and legal sectors.
She qualified as a lawyer in 2005 and has now made the move to THW from Blackburn firm, Watson Ramsbottom.
Ms Wharton's family law experience includes handling matters related to children, non-molestation and occupations, and matrimonial topics such as divorce and finances.
She is also experienced in assisting families in resolving their disputes—from relationship breakdowns to financial challenges after divorce or separation.
Ms Wharton said: "It excites me to be bringing my vast experience and expertise of working with clients from all parts of the UK to such an established legal practice with a strong reputation.
“It is a real privilege to be given this opportunity to build up the family department at Thomson Hayton Winkley.
"With my motivation, attitude, and determination and with others here wanting the same, I am sure we will succeed.”
Fiona Ward, managing director at Thomson Hayton Winkley, said: "I am delighted that Wendy has joined the firm and I am sure that with her experience the department will go from strength to strength.
"I knew right for our first meeting that Wendy was the right person for our clients and for THW."
