A Wigton-based embroidery company has invested £60,000 in UK-first machinery to improve productivity and meet increased demand.

Stitch & Print is the first in the country to introduce four high-tech Happy Japan HCU2 Embroidery Machines, boosting productivity by 20 per cent.

This investment comes amid a period of significant growth for the company, which has seen back-to-back record years and created two new jobs.

Richard Mattinson, a director at Stitch & Print, said: "Stitch & Print’s workload has increased significantly in recent years so to enable us to meet the rise in orders we needed to invest in machinery more advanced than our previous equipment.

"After receiving specialist advice from our accountants Saint & Co about the tax implications, we felt as a business that we were in a position to invest in some high-tech technology from Japan which is 20 per cent faster than our previous machines.

"The quality of stitch is amazing and we are really happy with the top level of service we are able to provide to our customers throughout Cumbria and the wider UK, and we’re excited to grow our client base even further."

The company, founded in 2004, provides embroidered workwear and branded uniforms to businesses, organisations, and schools nationwide.

Will Robinson, an account manager for Saint & Co, who worked with Stitch & Print, said: "Saint & Co has enjoyed a strong, trusted relationship with Stitch & Print for the past 20 years, and our clients’ best interests are always at the forefront of everything we do.

"To be able to assist the team and help them understand the tax implications of such a major development is a great feeling, and I’m looking forward to witnessing our neighbour’s continued growth following the introduction of the sophisticated embroidery machines."

Saint & Co has offices across Cumbria, including its headquarters at Rosehill Industrial Estate in Carlisle, and regional bases in Penrith, Ambleside, Whitehaven, Millom, and Cockermouth.
