A boutique wedding location in Cumbria has been nominated as one of the top places for couples to get married.

Broadoaks Country House, near Windermere, has been recognised for 'going the extra mile' by the County Brides North West Wedding Awards.

The Victorian manor house, originally built in 1836, has been hosting weddings for more than 15 years.

With its 'unique and romantic charm' and 'picturesque' setting overlooking the Lake District hills, it has become a popular choice for couples.

It hosts celebrations that can accommodate more than 100 guests.

The awards, which celebrate accomplishments across 36 different categories, highlight wedding suppliers in the region who provide 'outstanding experiences.'

The nominations are based on votes from couples who have experienced the services of the finalists.

Sian Parry, the venue manager at Broadoaks Country House, said: "The Broadoaks Country House team work incredibly hard to ensure each and every wedding exceeds the expectations of our couples – whether hosting a small intimate celebration or a larger party.

"We are delighted that our beautiful venue and the dedication of our team have been recognised by the prestigious County Brides North West Wedding Awards and feel this certainly affirms our position as one of Cumbria’s locations of choice to tie the knot.

"We now wish all other finalists the best of luck and look forward to celebrating at the awards ceremony next spring."

The venue, situated in five acres of landscaped gardens, offers five different areas for civil ceremonies, including its own 'intimate orangery' and an outdoor setting with views across Troutbeck and the surrounding valleys.

The site also has a bridal retreat and 19 extra bedrooms.

Couples can get married at Broadoaks Country House from £5,999.
