A national retailer has opened the doors to its new store in Barrow's town centre.

Dreams, which specialises in beds and mattresses, welcomed customers to the new site at Hindpool Retail Park for the first time on Monday.

The opening is part of UK-wide plans for the retailer to expand its presence across the country.

Jonathan Hirst, CEO of Dreams, said: "We're very excited to announce the opening of our new store in Barrow, marking another milestone in the growth and success of our business.

"Expanding our presence across the UK allows us to continue to deliver high-quality products and exceptional service to even more customers.

The new store will enable local customers to shop Dreams’ 'extensive collection' of mattresses, pillows, bed frames, and bases.

The opening has also created five new jobs for retail professionals dedicated to delivering 'excellent customer service'.

It was previously revealed in September that a search had started for people to join the new Dreams store, building upon the presence the business already has in the county in Carlisle.

The Barrow shop is part of a series of new store openings planned before the end of 2024 and follows the opening of Dreams’ first concept store in East Sheen in London in September this year.

Dreams’ expansion and growth plans build on the 'record investment' in store refits, technology upgrades, and logistics improvements it made in the past fiscal year, which have positioned the business for continued growth in 2024 and beyond.

Established in 1985, Dreams is now hoping that its fast approaching 40th anniversary will be its best year to date, with Barrow playing a key role in those aspirations.

Based in High Wycombe, the company has grown to have over 2,000 employees nationwide.
