AN online delivery business that caters to the entire county is branching out to a new location and continuing to garner great success.
South Lakes entrepreneur Colin Sneath, 57, is the owner of A Day’s Walk, a Cartmel based food and drink delivery service that promotes locally sources food all over Cumbria.
In the 12 months the business has been in operation, the company has overseen thousands of deliveries and will soon be opening a new branch at Holker Hall.
Colin, who was born in Edinburgh, and moved to the Lakes two years ago with his wife and son.
He said: “Since beginning the business 12 months ago we have steadily built a collection of nearly 400 food and drink options.
“All of them are locally sourced. We see them as the driving force behind supporting local producers.
“We really want to set the definition of local in our business.
“We aim to be the driving force behind that.
“The definition of local is being stretched a lot these days by our larger competitors but we want to stay true to the definition.
“People buy local more these days and they want to know that what they are spending their money on is benefitting the local economy.
“We have 40 producers at the moment and more than 400 items to pick from.
“An online shop has the convenience of a support market.
“You can just make an account, put in your order, pick your delivery slots and we get it out to you.
“In the year we’ve been doing this we’ve made about 3500 deliveries. We get a lot of business in places like Barrow, Ulverston, Kendal and especially Ambleside.
“Sometimes I have to pass through Ambleside three times a day while making deliveries.
“We delivery directly to the vast majority of Cumbria, and even more places up north when we need to.
“We also do all over the LA post code.
“When we first started, we had a lot of local residents making the first orders, and they are still making repeat orders to this day.
“We get lots of repeat business.
“The future is looking bright as Holker Hall reached out to us and offered us a chance to open an outlet there in their food hall.
“We are delighted with the opportunity and are really grateful to the Hall for doing this with us.
“If anyone out there wants to support local producers, then give us a try.”
