An estate agent accused of being behind a £300,000 fraud has appeared before Carlisle Crown Court.
Donald George Scott, 61, from Bolton Low Houses, near Wigton, made a brief appearance before the city’s top judge, Paul Batty QC.
Scott, of the Wigton-based Donald Scott Land & Estate Agents, spoke only to confirm his name.
No pleas were entered to the 16 counts he is charged with.
Scott faces five charges of forgery and 11 counts of fraud by abusing his position as a land agent.
The court heard legal discussions about the case and it was adjourned until November 20 for a hearing where a plea can be entered.
Scott was released on bail.
The company which bears Scott’s name has provided property services in and around Wigton.
