‘It was a pleasure to participate in the 150th Anniversary celebrations of Armstrong Watson. I hope one day that Whitakers Chocolates are able to join them in reaching that milestone,” said William.
“Whilst sitting for my portrait it certainly gave me time to reflect on my business life and life in general. It made me realise that I had probably not sat still often enough!
“It was wonderful to meet Helen and learn about how she came to be a portrait artist and in doing so I also learnt that I don’t meet too many total strangers and certainly don’t spend so much time talking to them these days. It was a refreshing change!
“Congratulations to Armstrong Watson on their achievement and I wish them continued success.”
Helen says: “This was probably the most detailed painting of the series. The simplified background
meant I could really focus on the folds of the jacket, the expression on the face and even the individual laces on the shoes.
“William came across as extremely organised and his home was so unbelievably tidy that I felt like redesigning my home the moment I got back to London. It’s likely that’s why my painting of him became so precise.”
