AN AWARD-winning cake makers have been accredited by Safe and Local Supplier Approval (SALSA) for the eighth consecutive year.
Lisa Smith, cake maker and owner of award-winning cake makers Ginger Bakers, has been accredited by SALSA for the eighth consecutive year.
The certification Lisa and her team have achieved SALSA is recognised as the leading food safety Scheme for small food and drink producers across the UK.
Accreditation is only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate that they are able to produce safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.
As a result, the scheme is widely accepted by both retailers and food service providers across the country and as such many require that the standard be in place before they will consider stocking products
SALSA is a collaboration between the four trade associations representing the UK Food Chain, including the Institute of Food Science &Technology, who operate the scheme across the country, in conjunction with the Food & Drink Federation, the National Farmers Union and UK Hospitality, the Food & Drink Federation, the National Farmers Union.
Lisa Smith, owner of Ginger Bakers, said: ‘’Achieving SALSA accreditation shows our complete commitment to maintaining the highest food safety standards possible for our customers.
"For us it’s important that we play our part in ensuring that the food supply chain is safe, traceable and auditable.
"SALSA demonstrates to food buyers and to consumers that our products are produced to the highest standards possible, and that we as a business are serious about what we do and how we do it.’’
