A theatre has announced a partnership it’s joined in hopes of making the great outdoors more accessible.

Theatre by the Lake in Keswick has partnered with the National Trust to map and promote three ‘fully accessible’ walks, which will be led by a National Trust leader and start and end at the theatre.

They also said a brand-new all-terrain mobility scooter, known as a Tramper, is now available to hire at the theatre, thanks to support from the Keswick Lions.

The theatre said the Tramper allows those with limited mobility to join these walks, and features a robust design and off-road capabilities.

Roy Henderson, Borrowdale Area Ranger for the National Trust, said: “This a brilliant opportunity and ties in well with our founding principles to look after places of historical interest and natural beauty for everyone, forever”.

Andy Cannon, president of the Keswick Lions, said the Trampers will help more people to enjoy the Lakes and increase involvement in outdoor activities.

He added that the partnership works to ‘improve the lives of others’ with accessibility challenges in the countryside.

Guided walks will take place on May 28, June 29, and August 8.
